Charles Phillips Billboard – Infor’s Greatest Marketing Strategy
Anyone who is familiar with whos who in I.T. is sure to be aware of exactly why Infor using the Charles Phillips billboard as its primary marketing strategy. After all, it was the role that Phillips has been playing for the last ten years or so.
The Charles Phillips billboard was first used when he joined Morgan Stanley. It was his first job of importance since leaving the military and joining the droves of professionals that made Wall Street churn out billions of dollars every day. Phillips had been hired by the company to analyze trends for I.T. companies. Almost immediately after his employment, Phillips was already causing Morgan Stanleys competitors terrible headaches. All of his analyses were spot-on, which enabled to make his company moves way before its competitors.
The Charles Phillips billboard was also used by Oracle, the company that he worked for 7 years prior to his move to Infor. Similar to what happened during his tenure at Morgan Stanley, Phillips arrival at the company was without much fuss. Everyone knew, of course, that Oracle CEO Larry Ellison personally selected him to become a Vice-President, definitely a huge promotion for an industry analyst, but no one had great expectations. In just a few months, everyone at Oracle was happily proven wrong. Phillips might have been soft-spoken in person, but he was an unstoppable force of nature in the boardroom and he shocked everyone with his bold move against PeopleSoft, which eventually became his first major M&A deal.
